Over the course of a career spanning more than three decades, bankruptcy practitioner Norman Kinel has successfully represented clients in some of the largest and most complex bankruptcy cases in the country. At present, Norman Kinel is a partner in the Restructuring & Insolvency Practice Group of Squire Patton Boggs, where he also serves as the National Chair of the firm’s Creditors’ Committee Practice.

Most recently, Mr. Kinel drew on his three decades of experience in bankruptcy litigation to represent the Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors in the Chapter 11 case of LBI Media, Inc. Said to be the country’s largest privately held, minority-owned Spanish-language television and radio network, LBI entered Chapter 11 in November 2018. The company’s Disclosure Statement in connection with its Chapter 11 plan was originally contested by a group of second-lien noteholders; however, prior to the bankruptcy court hearing in mid-January of 2019, a number of details were resolved, and a Delaware bankruptcy judge ultimately approved the Disclosure Statement. In a news release from Law 360, Mr. Kinel said that the Creditors’ Committee was in favor of the approval of the Disclosure Statement, but had not yet determined whether it would support LBI’s Chapter 11 plan.
